On This Day in 1949, Ric Ocasek of The Cars was born. In the early 1970′s Ocasek and friend Ben Orr decided they had a better chance of breaking into the music business by relocating to Boston from Ohio. There the duo added Jas Goodkind on guitar and formed Milkwood. They played CB’s in the early 1970′s.
After years of playing and several band configurations The Cars seasoned their sound in the Winter of 1976 -1977 by playing throughout the New England area. WBCN, a Boston radio station began playing their demo “Just What I Needed” and the band signed with Elektra Records.
