On this day in 1968, Life Magazine, named Jimi Hendrix the most spectacular guitarist in the world.  In 1966, The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed and their first single was a cover of Hey Joe. On this day in 1980, Patti Smith married Fred “Sonic” Smith. The couple had two kids, Jackson and Jesse. They both shared a love for poetry. Fred Smith was a highly credited guitarist who played in MC5. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith passed away in 1994 due to a heart attack. Patti Smith included a tribute to Fred on her 1996 album, Gone Again. In honor of the couple, we included a video of the two performing, People Have the Power.
