“CBGB’s is going to be dismantled and reconstructed as an exhibit in Las Vegas, like Elvis. I like that. A lot. I really hope it happens as intended.”
Richard Hell, New York Times Interview
Richard Hell was a member of several influential punk rock bands – Television, The Heartbreakers, and Richard Hell and The Voidoids. Richard Hell and The Voidoids were formed in 1976. Blank Generation is the band’s claim to fame and to many, was the voice of their time. In his early punk days, Richard wore spiked hair. Safety pins held his ripped clothing together, cementing punk music and fashion. In the 1980’s, he focused on his writing and published poetry and novels. Hell’s latest work “The Voidoid” was released in 2009.
