Dead Boys

The Dead Boys came to New York in 1976, encouraged by Joey Ramone.  They frequented CB’s and Hilly Kristal became their manager.  The Dead Boys shows were vulgar, outrageous and crude and were perfectly captured in the 1977 release:  The Dead Boys Live at CBGB. Seymour Stein signed them to Sire Records, but even he could not get them to clean up their act.  The Dead Boy’s Sonic Reducer became an anthem for punks, but friction between members led to their breakup in 1979. Surviving members of the band reunited for a benefit show to help the “Save CBGB” cause.
