Blondie is Deborah Harry, Chris Stein, Clem Burke, and Jimmy Destri. They established a cult following before their debut album by playing clubs such as CBGB. Debbie and the band often hung out at the club. They defied the odds by breaking out into a commercial success, even though the lower east side punk rock scene had not broken out nationally. Heart of Glass was the band’s first number one hit. In 1980, Blondie released their fourth album, Eat to the Beat, which went platinum. The band went on hiatus in 1982 due to Chris Stein falling ill with a rare genetic disease. Blondie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2008 they celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of their album Parallel Lines.
