Bad Brains

Bad Brains were formed in Washington D.C. in 1977. They originated as a jazz fusion band and overtime morphed into a sound all their own incorporating reggae and punk rock.  Many musicians have come and gone in the band, but the core members include H.R., Dr. Know, Darryl Jenifer, and Earl Hudson.  In the late 70’s they were banned from clubs in D.C., so they trekked north to New York City. Their first two albums are considered staples and influenced numerous artists such as the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Living Colour.  The 1982 Live at CBGB CD/DVD captures the band in their heyday.  On occasion, John Josephs of the Cro-Mags sings lead.

In 2005, Bad Brains headlined a two day show at CBGB.  The shows sold out in record time.  Bad Brains are currently working on a documentary and a tour.
